Matcha (抹茶) is the famous green tea of the Japanese Chanoyu ceremony. It is made from a high quality green Gyokuro tea, powderized with a granite millstone. In the 16th century, a true ritual developed around Matcha, establishing its own codes and using specific, dedicated tools (bowl, whisk, spatula...).
